Write for Us – Pet Blog Contributors | Advance Pet Mart

Write for us: Advance Pet Mart is looking for pet writers, veterinarians, trainers, and pet nutrition specialists to contribute to our pet blog. If you write about dogs and cats with real expertise — nutrition, training, health, behavior — we want your voice on our site.

Our blog serves US dog and cat owners looking for honest, practical advice. We're building a contributor program for people who know the pet niche deeply and write like it. If you're a link farm, a content mill, or an agency blasting the same pitch to 500 sites, you'll be ignored — read the rules below before emailing.

Who can write for our pet blog

  • Veterinarians, vet techs, and certified dog trainers — credentials get priority.
  • Pet nutrition writers with real published work in the pet space.
  • Experienced pet bloggers and owners who can show genuine subject-matter depth — not rewritten listicles.

We don't accept contributions from generalist freelance mills, AI-content resellers, or anyone whose "pet experience" is a profile created last week.

Topics our pet writers cover

  • Dog and cat nutrition — ingredients, feeding guides, diet types, pet food safety
  • Dog training and cat behavior — practical, method-based advice
  • Pet health — written responsibly, with vet-reviewed claims (nothing that replaces a veterinarian's advice)
  • Product categories we sell — dog treats, toys, leashes & collars, grooming, supplements — covered honestly, never as advertorials

How to pitch: write for us in three steps

  1. Email info@advancepetmart.com with the subject line: Guest Post Pitch: [Your Headline]. Any other subject line is deleted unread — this is your first test.
  2. Pitch, don't attach. Send your proposed headline, a 3–4 sentence outline, and 2 links to your published writing. Do NOT send a finished draft, Word docs, or Google Doc links. Full drafts sent unprompted are deleted.
  3. One pitch per email. Three headlines max per month per writer.

Editorial standards for contributors (non-negotiable)

  • Original only. Never published anywhere else, in any form. We check.
  • 1,200+ words of genuinely useful content. Thin 500-word filler is rejected without feedback.
  • Well-written content. Human-written or high-quality AI-assisted content is welcome — but it must read naturally, be factually accurate, and pass our quality review. Raw, unedited AI output is rejected without feedback.
  • Accurate and sourced. Health and nutrition claims need credible sources (veterinary bodies, peer-reviewed work, official agency data). "Studies show" without a study gets cut.
  • Our voice, our call. We edit for clarity, accuracy, style, and SEO. We choose the publish date, the headline may change, and we can reject a draft even after accepting a pitch.
  • Disclosure. Any affiliate links, brand relationships, or products you have a stake in must be disclosed in your pitch. Undisclosed promotion = permanent blacklist.

What pet blog contributors get

  • An author bio (up to 50 words) with one link to your website or professional profile. The link must be relevant and natural — keyword-stuffed anchor text will be rewritten or removed.
  • One link in the article body. You may include a single relevant, non-promotional link within the article itself (e.g. to your own in-depth guide on the topic). It must be disclosed in your pitch and genuinely useful to the reader — promotional or irrelevant links are stripped.
  • Exposure to our US pet-owner audience and promotion of the article through our channels.

We don't pay cash for contributions. The bio link + one body link is the deal — take it or leave it.

Hard no's

  • Paid links, sponsored anchors, or any form of link buying/selling — instant blacklist.
  • Reciprocal link exchanges ("link to me and I'll link to you"). We don't do them, don't ask.
  • CBD, crypto, gambling, adult, pharma, or any off-topic content.
  • Pre-written advertorials for a brand or product.
  • Follow-up spam. If you haven't heard back in 5 business days, assume it's a pass. One polite follow-up max.

Write for us: frequently asked questions

How do I become a contributor to your pet blog?

Email info@advancepetmart.com with the subject line "Guest Post Pitch: [Your Headline]", including your headline, a short outline, and two samples of your published pet writing. We review every pitch that follows the format.

Do you pay pet writers?

No. Compensation is the author bio with a backlink, one relevant body link, and exposure to our US pet-owner audience. If you need a paid writing gig, we're not it.

How long until I hear back?

We review pitches within 5 business days. Silence after that means pass — please don't take it personally, we get far more pitches than slots.

Can I republish the article on my own site afterward?

No. Accepted articles are exclusive to Advance Pet Mart. You're welcome to link to the published piece from your portfolio.

Will you edit my article?

Yes — for clarity, accuracy, formatting, and SEO. Substantive factual changes will be flagged to you before publishing; style edits won't.

Can I include links to my own content in the article body?

Yes — one link, disclosed in your pitch. It must be topically relevant and genuinely useful to the reader (like your own in-depth guide on the subject). Promotional, irrelevant, or extra links are stripped.
